De Marchi Engineering acquires additional Chippenham industrial unit

Chippenham-based De Marchi Engineering has made significant investments in new equipment and additional premises to facilitate further growth in 2017.

The family-run metal fabricating firm beat off stiff competition to acquire the long leasehold interest of Unit 1 Bumpers Way, after property agents Alder King and Strettons implemented a competitive bidding process due to strong interest in the property.

The unit, a 10,155 sq ft semi-detached warehouse/industrial building with office space, is situated close to De Marchi’s original workshop on Vincients Road and will provide much-needed additional production, storage and office space.

Previously occupied by The Gym, it has now been refurbished and will primarily be used for all fabrication, assembly, quality control and distribution.

De Marchi has also recently invested in three new machines to provide higher levels of manufacturing quality, a faster turnaround and a wide range of fabrication capability.

An Armada F1 laser cutter, a nitrogen generator and a Grindmaster surface finishing machine were installed in December in the original workshop.

Paul Collins, director of De Marchi Engineering, said: “Following a period of sustained growth in recent years, we made a commitment to develop our technical expertise and customer offer through investment in new premises and equipment.  With our new unit conveniently located close to our existing workshop, we are now equipped to deliver this.  We’re confident that we will see a return on our investment as we progress through 2017.”

James Gregory, partner at Alder King, said: “There is a shortage of good quality commercial units, particularly those with a yard.  As a result we had significant levels of interest from a wide variety of prospective purchasers and lessees.  We’re delighted to have helped facilitate the expansion of this successful local business while also securing a positive outcome for the vendor.”

De Marchi was unrepresented and the price remains confidential.
