Edmundson Electrical, a leading distributor of electrical equipment, moved their Gloucester store to a 9,000 sq ft unit at Barnwood Point, Corinium Avenue in June 2009. Since then they have seen a dramatic increase in the number of new customers visiting the branch.
Phil Millington at Edmundson Electrical said: “We prelet a new 9,000 sq ft industrial unit at Barnwood Point in June 2008 and moved into the finished unit in June 2009. We have been really surprised at the volume of additional business that we have received from people just passing on the bypass and it’s led to us doubling our turnover.
“We have undoubtedly benefitted from Barnwood Point’s location on the A417, because not only is it visible from the main road, it also allows us to get straight onto the motorway to make deliveries across the county. Each of the last three months has set a new record in sales.
“The unit we are in is completely brand new and there is also the ability for us to expand on site if we want to in the future.”
The Barnwood Point development has proved very popular and over 35,000 sq ft has been let to national businesses by joint marketing agents Alder King and BNP Paribas.
Adrian Rowley, partner at Alder King added: “This really is a case of location, location, location. Barnwood Point is very successful because it offers an excellent trade warehouse location, which is highly visible from the A417, with superb access to Gloucester and Cheltenham.
“It is a well thought out development and can accommodate a wide range of requirements. For example developers Croudace Properties have recently constructed a 20,000 sq ft detached warehouse for Storage King.”
There are now five units remaining and available for immediate occupation ranging in size from 5,880 sq ft to 12,250 sq ft.
