60 people attended the trip aboard the Enterprise, which departed from the Town Quay in Truro and sailed down the River Fal to undertake a scenic tour around Falmouth Harbour.
Ian Simpson, partner in charge of the Truro office said: “The trip was a great success and we were delighted to share our centenary with our clients and friends.”
Alder King was set up in 1911 by Stanley Arnold Alder. Known as Stanley Alder, it offered auction, valuation and estate agency services. In 1912 Reginald Price joined the firm and it traded for the next 74 years under the name Stanley Alder and Price.
The firm grew and established itself as commercial property experts in the South West of England and in 1986 was approached by Lloyds Bank, which was actively buying agencies across the UK. Lloyds purchased the firm and King Miles (a residential practice with 11 offices) simultaneously. The landmark deal saw the two practices renamed as Alder King.
In 1991 the present equity partnership bought back the commercial property consultancy arm of Alder King, which is now the market leader in the South West of England and has a growing presence in South Wales. As well as its office in Truro, the practice has offices in Bristol, Gloucester, Swindon, Exeter and Cardiff.
The firm is instructed on some of the best known developments in Cornwall. The consultants are currently providing centre management services for Cornwall’s major new retail and leisure development, White River Place in St Austell.
Alder King has recently been appointed as managing agents in the South West for the Rowe Group whose portfolio includes a number of high quality investments in Cornwall. Current instructions for the Group include the former Clearwood Joinery unit in Redruth which extends to over 30,000 sq ft and the former “your move” retail unit at 5 Church Street in St Austell. More recently Alder King has completed the sale of the former Threshers unit at 52 Church Street, Falmouth.
The agents are also marketing a number of significant development opportunities in Cornwall including the former Woodlands Hotel site fronting the Gannel Estuary in Newquay and the former tax office at Penlowarth House in Penzance.
As well as being awarded Most Active Agent in the South West for the tenth consecutive year, Alder King’s Truro office has an established and expanding professional team who provide professional, valuation and building consultancy services to clients across the county.
