LDF News August 2011

West Dorset District Council – are to run a series of consultation events to engage the local community in a debate about the district’s future growth. The consultation will mainly focus on the challenge of meeting future growth and development in West Dorset. The results of these events will form the basis of the new Local Plan being prepared by the District Council and there will be a full public consultation on a draft Local Plan in summer 2012. Eastleigh Borough Council – are currently consulting on their ‘Landscape Character Assessment for Eastleigh Borough’. It is intended that this document will inform the Council’s policies relating to the landscape of the borough and the location of future development outside town and village centres. The consultation will run until Friday 23 September 2011. 

Vale of Glamorgan Council – a revised Delivery Agreement and timetable for the Vale of Glamorgan LDP has been agreed by the Welsh Assembly Government. The revised timetable indicates that consultation on the Deposit LDP will now take place in December 2011 / January 2012 and shows an indicative adoption date of January 2014. 

Bath & North East Somerset Council – the Inspector appointed to examine the BANES Core Strategy has agreed to the Council’s request to delay the start of the hearings so that the Council can consider possible changes to the Core Strategy arising from the Inspectors preliminary concerns and other changed circumstances. The hearings are expected to commence in the week commencing 9 January 2012 and will last at least two weeks. The exact start date and a timetable for the hearings will be published in November.

North Devon Council and Torridge District Council – has published the results of its joint Strategic Housing Land Availability Assessment (SHLAA).  It is proposed that the SHLAA will be reviewed later this year so if you have any updated information about any sites submitted previously or new sites which you would like to be considered then now is the time to put these forward.

South Gloucestershire Council – submitted its Core Strategy for examination on 31 March 2011.  Following the Government’s publication of the Draft National Planning Policy Framework the Inspector appointed to undertake the examination has invited anyone who wishes to comment on this in relation to the Core Strategy to do so.  The deadline for comments is Friday 16 September 2011.

North Somerset Council – following the submission of its draft Core Strategy to the Secretary of State for examination NSC are now proposing a number of changes to the Core Strategy.  Representations are invited on these proposed changes and the consultation will run until 14 September 2011.
