James’s new role will see him continue to provide advice to clients on all aspects of Building Consultancy, including dilapidations and project monitoring and project management. James is a specialist in fire and flood insurance reinstatement and advises on restoring and rebuilding private homes as well as businesses following major losses including fire or flood.
James commented: “My priority will be to continue to develop our profile in Devon and Cornwall and build on Alder King’s relationships with local developers and bank funding professionals.
“In the current market landlords and tenants are under significant pressure when it comes to dealing with dilapidations settlements at the end of a tenancy. Both sides want a fast settlement to minimise financial liabilities and to enable the landlord to let the property as quickly as possible to a new tenant. It is my role to assist negotiations and provide professional advice relating to the level of settlement required. This is an active area of work for Alder King and is one that I will continue to develop.”
Martyn Jones, senior partner at Alder King said: “I am very pleased to announce this promotion and recognise James’ significant impact on our business. He has an excellent reputation advising clients on a full range of building surveying issues and resolving complex and sensitive issues.”
James joined Alder King as a building surveyor in 2001 and was promoted to associate in 2007. He is based in Alder King’s Exeter office, but advises clients across Devon and Cornwall. His clients include major lenders and high street branches, Commercial Estates and Peninsula Innovations Ltd.
