Localism Bill becomes The Localism Act 2011
The Localism Bill has now become the Localism Act following the granting of Royal Assent. The act sets out new legislation underpinning major reforms to the English planning system including a new tier of land use planning in the shape of neighbourhood plans. The Localism Act also enables the Government to scrap regional strategies, however these still remain in place for the time being whilst further consultation is undertaken.
