Education

University Of Winchester Main BuildingAlder King has acted for a number of state and private schools, and higher and further education institutions, providing a range of services. We are well versed with University regulations, standing orders and the requirements of the Charities Act.

We are also advising educational establishments on one-off and regular estate valuations to ensure they are compliant with the Financial Reporting Standard 102 (FRS 102), the new mandatory accounting standards applicable to property assets in the UK and Republic of Ireland.  This applies to financial periods starting on or after 1 January 2015.  For higher and further education establishments, the first FRS 102 compliant accounts need to be prepared for the financial year ending on 31 July 2016.  For independent schools, the Charities SORP FRS 102 requires a valuation to be completed in the financial year ending in 2016.  Clients include the University of Bristol, University of Winchester (pictured above), Falmouth University and the University of the West of England.
