Alder King Planning Consultants were instructed by Edward Ware Homes to secure outline consent on 8.8 ha of land at Bower Farm in Bridgwater.  The proposed development will provide up to 260 new dwellings, open space, part of a new estate road and associated structure.

The brief was to secure consent ahead of the adoption of the allocation in the new local plan whilst representing the developers’ interests through the local plan process.

The project was complicated by coming forward ahead of the allocation, issues relating to the noise of the M5 adjacent to the site, together with flooding and drainage issues. To ensure compliance with the project brief, a close working relationship with the Council was established facilitating extensive negotiations which enabled a better understanding of site specific constraints and also the Council’s aspirations for the site.

Alder King also coordinated the multi disciplinary consultant team on the planning application as well as through the EIA process. Resolution to grant planning permission was achieved at planning committee.
