Alder King was instructed in October 2013 by NHS Property Services to provide asset management support across its Southern Region property portfolio.
The appointment required inspection and reports on 673 properties across southern England within a demanding 10 week timescale. Reports were also required for a further 76 undeveloped land sites held by NHS Property Services.
Over 30 surveyors across the firm took part in the project to deliver:
- Building inspection reports, capturing property information together with further detail on tenure and lease arrangements for each building. Reports also contained observations on planning and development potential and recommendations for asset management.
- Building condition surveys were undertaken for all freehold or long leasehold buildings where existing information was not available.
- Dilapidation reports were provided for buildings where NHS Property Services have forthcoming direct liabilities.
This project was a significant achievement and demonstrates our ability to deliver projects of this scale within a demanding timeframe.”

The project provided NHS Property Services with its first detailed analysis of its portfolio since the transfer of assets to the newly established organisation in April 2013.
Alder King is now providing NHS Property Services with on-going strategic asset management advice.
