Alder King Planning Consultants were instructed by the University of Gloucestershire to obtain Reserved Matters planning permission for Phase 1 of the University’s new Business School and Growth Hub at the Oxstalls Campus. This was a joint project comprising (1) new academic facilities to house the University’s School of Business and Technology and (2) a new facility of the Growth Hub, to be managed by the Gloucestershire Local Enterprises Partnership.
We worked closely with the consultancy team during the design stage and through pre-application discussions with Gloucester City Council. This included additional public consultation and support to the project manager to revisit a number of matters established at Outline planning stage, but which the University subsequently wanted to deviate on.
We were responsible for the co-ordination and submission of the planning application, which also involved the submission of a separate Section 73 application to vary a number of the planning conditions on the original Outline consent. Consent was successfully obtained and the building has since been constructed and occupied.
Since completion, Alder King has been retained by the University to provide Town and Country Planning advice in relation to other projects, including an application for a revised vehicular access to the campus and revised proposals for open space facilities.
