Clarkson Evans acquires three and a half acre site

Clarkson Evans, the UK’s leading electrical contractor for new homes, has purchased 3.5 acres of land on Anson Business Park, Gloucestershire.  The land was formerly occupied by Dowty Propellers and is positioned next to Cheltenham Road East, one of the main routes connecting Gloucester and Cheltenham. The newly acquired site is next door to Clarkson Evans’ existing premises at Anson Business Park, which form part of the company’s current headquarters, along with offices nearby at Meteor Business Park.

The deal was brokered by James Gregory, partner at property consultants Alder King, and is part of a long-term plan to house all of Clarkson Evans’ HQ operations in one place.

Leigh Mason, Technical Director at Clarkson Evans, says: “Acquiring a new site that is large enough to accommodate all of our head office functions has until now proved difficult.  When this plot of land finally became available it was too good an opportunity to miss.

“While our current trading conditions remain very difficult due to the economic impact of Covid-19, we managed to secure funding to allow us to proceed with the purchase.  It’s likely to be a while before we’re able to proceed with constructing a new purpose built HQ but nevertheless it puts the company in a good position for the future.”

Clarkson Evans employs 850 staff, with a branch network that covers much of southern England, the Midlands and Wales.

For nearly 40 years, the company has worked alongside all the UK’s major housebuilders including Persimmon Homes, Vistry Group, Taylor Wimpey and Barratt David Wilson, among others. In 2019, Clarkson Evans wired over 24,000 new homes; that’s one in eight of all new homes built across England and Wales.

This is the latest acquisition Alder King has completed for Clarkson Evans.  As well as buying its existing headquarters buildings several years ago, we have now advised the firm on nearly all of its 20+ regional depots around the country. We have also provided them with lease advisory and building consultancy services and recently secured the mandate to review their business rates portfolio.
