Evans Halshaw Car Store opens on Barnwood Point following Pendragon plc’s acquisition
A new Evans Halshaw Car Store has now opened at Barnwood Point in Gloucester, following the acquisition last year of a two acre development site by leading motor dealer group Pendragon PLC.
The landmark site was sold by property consultancy Alder King acting on behalf of Croudace Properties.
The development, located on the corner of Barnwood Road and the A417 Corinium Avenue, is now complete and includes a new 10,000 sq ft multi-brand used car showroom, parking for 255 vehicles and a wash bay. Up to 35 new jobs were created and a substantial roadside plot, which has lain vacant for many years, is now back in use.
Pendragon PLC was given planning permission by Gloucester City Council last year for the development and it opened in February 2017.
Adrian Rowley, partner at Alder King, said: “Barnwood Point has been a great success. A combination of new build and refurbishment has transformed this landmark site into one of the city’s best roadside locations. The regeneration of this high-profile plot will bring significant economic and environmental benefits and will in itself be a major driver of footfall to this busy part of the city.”
Other occupiers at Barnwood Point include Storage King, Toolstation and Edmundson Electrical.
Evans Halshaw is the UK’s leading car and van retailers, working with Citroen, Ford, Kia and Renault amongst others. It operates from over 130 showroom locations across the country including Cheltenham. The new Gloucester facility will provide a state of the art retail environment, offering greater customer choice and an enhanced buying experience.
