Former Horfield Police Station site sold for residential redevelopment
Acting for Bristol City Council, Alder King has sold the former Horfield Police Station site on Sommerville Road in the Bishopston area of Bristol.
The historic building at 6-8 Sommerville Road dates from 1903 and occupies a prominent corner plot in one of Bristol’s most sought after suburbs.
It has been acquired by local developer Sommerville Ltd following a highly competitive bidding process handled by Alder King. The property sold for a price well in excess of the original guide price.
“The price achieved reflects the ever-strengthening demand for residential conversion opportunities in desirable locations,” said Rebecca Harries of Alder King.
“The property’s location in the heart of a popular residential area and attractive period façade helped attract bids from over 14 parties and enabled us to achieve a very good price for the City Council.”
The new owner proposes to reconfigure the 2,668 sq ft, three storey premises to create a number of new apartments, subject to planning consent. The Bath stone and red brick façade with its ghost lettering will be retained.
The disposal will contribute to Bristol City Council’s strategy to dispose of surplus property assets to assist with the supply of housing in the city.
