Former Keynsham Fire Station sold for £750,000

Avon Fire & Rescue Service, advised by Alder King, has completed the sale of the former Keynsham Fire Station for £750,000.  The Temple Street site has been purchased by Chewton Place Developments which plans to create a mixed use scheme including ground floor retail and residential above.

When first marketed earlier this year, the property attracted unprecedented levels of interest.

Emma Smith, associate at Alder King, said: “This town centre site has enormous potential, a fact widely recognised by the many and varied parties who expressed interest and then went on to submit bids in the hope of acquiring it.  It is also worth noting that the majority of bids were unconditional.

“As a direct consequence of the competitive interest, we were able to secure a price for Avon Fire & Rescue 130% above the guide price.  This is as clear a sign as ever of the strength of Bristol’s development and occupational markets and the shortage of freehold stock in the market.”

The station closed in November 2015 as a result of its amalgamation with Brislington Fire Station into a new state of the art combined station at Hicks Gate.  Alder King sold the former Brislington Fire Station in 2016.  The property, which included a secure yard, also attracted significant interest from a number of parties and went to best bids.  The successful purchaser was a local family-run business which acquired the freehold for an undisclosed sum.
