Former Nailsea college site sold for mixed use redevelopment
Agency & Commercial Development
Property consultants Alder King, acting on behalf of Weston College, have sold the freehold of a prominent building in Nailsea for residential and commercial redevelopment.
Somerset Square, located adjacent to the town’s main Crown Glass Shopping Centre, was originally built as a medical centre and later acquired by Weston College.
It has now been acquired by Media Developments (Nailsea), part of Developments Bristol, a local company which aims to deliver high quality new housing in Bristol and the surrounding area.
The property provides approximately 12,000 sq ft of accommodation with on-site car parking.
Tom Dugay of Alder King said: “The College tasked us to help find a solution which would benefit the Nailsea community. Knowing the purchaser’s track record in delivering really good quality schemes in and around Bristol, I am sure this redevelopment will see the property transformed into an attractive part of the town’s urban landscape and help regenerate the town centre.”
Paul O’Brien of Developments Bristol added: “We are very pleased to have secured this site located right in the heart of Nailsea. We are finalising our plans for the property but it is very likely to include a mix of residential and commercial units to meet the strong demand for quality housing in the area with access to a good range of neighbourhood facilities.”
