Planning permission for Bristol Grammar School’s artificial grass sports pitch

Acting on behalf of Bristol Grammar School, Alder King Planning Consultants have secured planning permission for a new all-weather artificial sports pitch, predominately for rugby use, at the school’s playing fields just outside Failand near Bristol.

The new synthetic grass rugby pitch, which will also include a new eight lane cricket practice facility and six floodlights, will be constructed within to the east of the Sports Pavilion.

Outside of school hours and in accordance with children’s safe guarding regulations the new pitch will be offered for community use.

Mark Cullen of Alder King Planning Consultants says: “The pitch required careful design and siting in order not to impact on any wildlife and to take into account full environmental considerations.

“Through careful negotiations with North Somerset Council’s Natural Environment team and the lighting specialists on the project, we created a lighting design that significantly reduced lux levels around the hedgerows.”

“Bristol Grammar School is renowned for its culture of encouraging sport amongst its pupils and we’re delighted to have secured permission from North Somerset Council for this latest enhancement to its impressive sports facilities at Failand.”
