Residential planning consent for University of Bristol’s Pudding Pie Lane site
After successfully securing a committee resolution to approve the development of up to 141 dwellings at Pudding Pie Lane, a 12 acre site owned by the University of Bristol in Langford, south of Bristol, Alder King has now finalised negotiations relating to planning obligations and outline planning permission has been granted.
Given the greenfield nature of the site, combined with its location beyond the settlement limit of Langford, this was a challenging site to progress through the planning system. However, on the basis of it providing much needed housing, combined with improvements to local infrastructure, Alder King presented a compelling case that the scheme constituted sustainable development, resulting in a grant of permission.
Matthew Halstead, partner at Alder King said: “Given the location of the site outside Langford’s settlement boundary, we are pleased to secure permission without the need to pursue a planning appeal. This is an excellent scheme which will provide many benefits for the local community.”
