The Square at Cheswick Village fully occupied

Retail & Leisure Agency

The Square in Cheswick Village in North Bristol is now fully occupied after the last two remaining units were let.

An expanding local pizza restaurant chain and an independent hair and beauty salon are the latest businesses to take space in the mixed use scheme, joining Boston Tea Party, The Cooperative Food, Happy Days Nursery, Barnardo’s, a personal training and fitness studio and a number of takeaway restaurants.

Pepenero Pizza has secured the larger of the two available units, signing a 10 year lease for the 1,444 sq ft Unit 14.  It already trades from the Beer Emporium on King Street and in Redfield.  It also operates a mobile pizza van which visits a variety of local markets and festivals.  Its latest outlet in The Square is already proving popular with locals following its opening in September.

Two units along, the 1,208 sq ft Unit 12 has opened as a hair and beauty salon known as Unit 12 Hair & Beauty.  Run by experienced salon owner Sarah Baker, this new venture will see Sarah running the salon with her daughter.  She has taken the unit on a 10 year lease.

Rebecca Harries, retail surveyor at Alder King, negotiated both transactions on behalf of the landlord, the London-based Ironmongers’ Company, which acquired the scheme in December 2018.

“Neighbourhood schemes such as The Square have proved extremely resilient over the last 18 months,” she said.  “Providing a range of consumer conveniences in the heart of a large residential area, they have survived the challenges of lockdown and are all open and trading strongly.

“The arrival of two new occupiers further enhances the diverse and complimentary tenant mix and it’s very rewarding to see the scheme fully occupied.”

The Square was developed in 2015 to provide a community focus for the 1,000 home Cheswick Village and wider developments.
