Former Woodlands Social Club in Calne for sale through Alder King

Acting on behalf of the liquidator, Steve Elliott of Monahans, Alder King has been instructed to market the freehold interest in the former Woodlands Social Club in Calne, Wiltshire.

The property, which is Grade II Listed, has a long history and is thought to have been used as the town’s original fire station and more latterly as the Harris Bacon Factory Social and Welfare Club.  More recently the property traded as the Woodlands Social Club, finally closing its doors to members in May 2015.

The property has been extended over the years and now extends to circa 11,000 sq ft with the benefit of a three bedroomed residential former caretaker’s cottage.  The site itself extends to circa 1 acre and has the potential for further residential accommodation, subject to planning.

Martin Baker of Alder King’s Swindon office commented: “We are delighted to have been appointed by Monahans to dispose of this strategically important site.  Located on the junction of the A4 and the A3102, this is a rare opportunity to redevelop the site and help breathe new life into a landmark building in the centre of the town.

“We expect strong levels of interest in the property, which is considered suitable for a number of various uses.  The site is held freehold and offers are invited for our client’s interest.”
