The Instruction
Alder King was instructed to prepare, submit and negotiate a hybrid planning application for up-to 750 homes, primary school, open space and associated infrastructure on a 32 hectare site located to the east of Bridgwater.
Our Approach
Alder King took a positive role in pre-application discussions with the Council and statutory bodies in bringing forward a planning application on this allocated site. An EIA Screening and Scoping was submitted to the Council at an early stage, allowing the scope of the Environmental Statement and technical work necessary to support the application to be agreed.
Whilst an allocated site, the context of the site is complex with numerous constraints including ecology, highways, noise and air quality given the close proximity of the M5 Motorway.
Alder King coordinated the multi-disciplinary consultant team for both the planning application and the Environmental Assessment to ensure a high standard of work and consistency.
Results
The planning application was submitted with an Environmental Statement in early 2023 and is currently the subject of ongoing discussions and negotiations. It is hoped that a resolution to approve can be secured in the near future.
