Reading’s Yell House approved for student accommodation
Alder King Planning Consultants have secured planning permission to convert and extend a Reading town centre office block into student accommodation on behalf of clients Crown Student Living.
The six storey Yell House on Queen’s Walk will provide 287 student units (395 bed spaces) in a combination of studios, twodios and duplex units. The development will also feature a gym, cinema room and dance studio.
Works are due to start on site in September in time for occupation for the next academic year commencing in September 2016.
One of the Crown Student Living directors David Caplan said: “We are absolutely ecstatic.”
Yell House was originally built in 1985 as part of a larger hotel development but soon changed to offices. The building was occupied by Yellow Pages for many years until it relocated in 2010. The building has since been vacant.
